Meet Our Founder
Dr. C. Lamar Simmons is a respected pastor, teacher, and visionary leader who has faithfully served as Senior Pastor of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California, for more than three decades. He also serves as Senior Pastor of Pilgrim’s Hope Bible Church, where his leadership continues to strengthen members' spiritual lives and expand the church’s impact in the community. Recognized early for his calling to ministry, Dr. Simmons answered the call at just 10 years old and was ordained by the age of 15. At only 20 years old, he was entrusted with the leadership of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, an early testament to his spiritual maturity, wisdom, and commitment to serving God’s people. Throughout his years of pastoral leadership, Dr. Simmons has become known for his humility, integrity, and unwavering dedication to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Under his guidance, Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church has grown both spiritually and operationally, expanding its ministries and strengthening its ability to serve the surrounding community. His gift for leadership and financial stewardship has helped establish stability and growth that continues to benefit both congregations he serves. Driven by a deep love for people, Dr. Simmons has led numerous outreach efforts that provide food, clothing, holiday assistance, and essential support to families in need. Through partnerships with local agencies and community organizations, he has helped extend compassionate service beyond the church walls and into the lives of those who need encouragement most. In June 2020, Dr. Simmons was awarded the Doctor of Divinity degree from Bible Believers Christian College and Seminary in Los Angeles. In 2021, he was officially installed as Senior Pastor of Pilgrim’s Hope Bible Church, further expanding his pastoral leadership and influence. In October 2024, Dr. Simmons founded CLS Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to extend the love of Jesus Christ through preaching, outreach, and acts of service that provide food, clothing, and essential resources to individuals and families in need throughout local communities. Dr. Simmons remains committed to teaching and preaching the Word of God with clarity, compassion, and conviction, equipping believers, strengthening families, and impacting communities through faith in action.
